Newly Weds Foods’ New $40 Million Plant in Northeast Texas Taking Shape

The number one leader in food coatings and formulated seasonings, Newly Weds Foods, Incorporated (Chicago, Illinois), a privately held company, is proceeding aggressively with construction activity on its new plant currently being built in Mount Pleasant, Texas. The company held an official groundbreaking ceremony back in May of this year and ground preparation and building construction are in full swing.

The company purchased 18 acres of property in the Cypress Industrial Park as the spot for its seventeenth manufacturing operation in the U.S. Plans are to construct a 200,000 square-foot manufacturing building and distribution hub and also locate a new research and development center at the new plant. The plant will be outfitted with multiple production and packaging lines along twelve ingredient silos to produce cracker meals, dry batter mixes and spice blends for customers in the region.

Harrison, Walker & Harper, Incorporated (Paris, Texas) has been selected as the general contractor for this $40 million project and construction is expected to wrap-up around March or April of 2007. Once the plant goes into operation, some 100 new jobs will be created for the rural east Texas town.
