NextDecade Greenlights Train 4 for Rio Grande LNG Project - U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer NextDecade Corporation (Houston, Texas) said on Tuesday it has reached a positive final investment decision for the fourth liquefaction train of its Rio Grande export project in Texas. Train 4 has an expected LNG production capacity of nearly 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), bringing the total expected production capacity under construction at Rio Grande to about 24 MTPA. EIA: U.S. Power Use to Reach Record Highs in 2025, 2026 - U.S. power consumption will hit record highs in 2025 and 2026, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its Short-Term Energy Outlook on Tuesday. The EIA projected power demand will rise to 4,187 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2025 and 4,305 billion kWh in 2026, up from a record 4,097 billion kWh in 2024. (Reuters)

Phillips 66 to Buy Remaining Stake in Two Cenovus Refineries - Phillips 66 (Houston, Texas) said on Tuesday it will acquire the remaining 50% stake in WRB Refining from Cenovus Energy Incorporated (Calgary, Alberta) for $1.4 billion, giving it full ownership of two major U.S. refineries. WRB includes the Wood River refinery in Illinois and the Borger refinery in Texas, which have a combined crude throughput capacity of about 495,000 barrels per day.
