Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Nicor Gas Incorporated (Nicor) (Naperville, Illinois), a subsidiary of Nicor Incorporated (NYSE:GAS) (Naperville, Illinois), is nearing the construction phase on an upgrade and modernization of its Troy Grove natural gas compressor station near Mendota, Illinois. Nicor will install one new Solar Mars T-100 turbine unit rated at over 15,000 horsepower with Low-NOx Combustor technology at the Troy Grove station, which will enable it to take an existing unit compressor drive unit offline. Nicor will take either the 13,155 horsepower unit CG 28 or the 15,000 horsepower CC29 unit and place it in standby reserve. The older unit will remain onsite, and Nicor will utilize it for a backup unit, in case of breakdown of any of the other existing units. Nicor will realize a substantial reduction in its SOx, NOx, and VOC emissions reduction rate after the project is completed.
