No. 8 Unit of Yangcheng Power Plant Passes 168-Hour Trial Operation Successfully

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- The No. 8 Unit of the Yangcheng Power Plant passed the 168-hour trial operation smoothly in North Chinas Shanxi Province on August 29, 2007, which marks that the Phase II expansion project of the Yangcheng Power Plant was ready to put into official operation. The desulfurization and denitration emissions controls installed for the unit also passed the 168-hour trial operation at the same time.
The Yangcheng Power Plant, located at Yangcheng City, Shanxi Province, is a cooperative project between Shanxi and Jiangsu Provinces. The power plant has six 350-megawatt (MW) subcritical coal-fired units built in Phase I, which is currently owned by Yangcheng International Power Generation Company Limited (Shanxi, China), a Sino-foreign joint venture enterprise invested by China Datang Corporation (Beijing, China) (29%), Jiangsu Guoxin Assets Management Group Company, Limited (Jiangsu, China) (20%), Shanxi International Power Group Company, Limited (Shanxi, China) (16%), Shanxi Electric Power Company (Shanxi, China) (10%), and AES China Power Generation Company, Limited (USA) (25%). All power produced from the project is directly transmitted to East Chinas Jiangsu Province by 500 kilovolts (KV) transmission line specially built for the project.
The Phase II expansion project of the Yangcheng Power Plant is built and owned by Datang Yangcheng Power Generation Company, Limited (Shanxi, China), a company jointly invested by China Datang Corporation (Beijing, China) (41%), Jiangsu Guoxin Assets Management Group Company, Limited (Jiangsu, China) (30%), Shanxi International Power Group Company, Limited (Shanxi, China) (29%). The project is an important project listed in the national Eleventh Five Year Plan. The project will be furnished with two 600 MW air-cooled subcritical coal-fired units, with a total installed capacity of 1,200 MW, with a total investment of about $660 million. The project will use the existing transmission built in Phase I to transmit power to East Chinas Jiangsu Province. Construction of the project was officially started in May 18, 2005.
Currently, the other 600 MW (No. 7) unit of Phase II is under commissioning. The entire project is expected to put into full operation soon.
