Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). The Northeast Region has always played an important role in the industrial marketplace. Home to some of the country's oldest manufacturing facilities, today, the region which is comprised of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, finds itself home to some of the most progressive plants in the nation. Industrialinfo.com recently completed a 5-year capital and maintenance spending analysis for the Northeast, which illustrated over 2,700 projects representing more than $62 billion in capital spending. As part of our effort to lead our customers to the plants where those dollars are being spent, we are proud to announce the release of our latest product referencing the industrial marketplace, the Northeast Region Online Plant Directory.
Covering over 3,200 Industrial plants located in New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the directory provides invaluable contact information on 12 different industry sectors in the area where modern industrial manufacturing virtually began.

The region, which suffered along with others across the country by a tough economic climate and increasingly rigid environmental laws, also suffered the devastating effects of being the very epicenter of the 9-11 tragedy. Industry paused as it evaluated future spending, plants were being closed as companies consolidated and conserved their capital in such uncertain circumstances. The Northeast Region Online Directory will prove an invaluable tool in reaching operational plants still investing in capital and maintenance projects.
The Northeast region is still a vital and integral player in the industrial marketplace. Home to the largest concentration of people in the nation, the area offers a wide variety of industrial operations, with the Food & Beverage industry and Industrial Manufacturing plants comprising over 1,200 locations. Others sectors featured in the directory are the chemical industry with approximately 500 plants, 40 major petroleum refineries, 130 bulk storage terminals and 300 power generating stations. The pharmaceutical-biotech industry is firmly established with over 150 facilities.
In most sectors, companies were found to be spending money to upgrade and maintain their existing sites, rather than constructing grassroot plants. The power industry was the most active with over 90 projects representing almost $7 billion in spending. At the other end of the spectrum, despite having one of the largest plant counts, the food and beverage industry checked in with less than 25 projects for the region, valued at less than $200 million. The pharmaceutical-biotech sector, as in other regions across the country, remained a strong and steady spender with over $1 billion in capital spending. Chemical processing had a lot of activity, with almost 80 projects, but spending lagged at just over $400 million.
