NorthWestern Energy is owned by NorthWestern Corporation (NYSE:NEW) (Sioux Falls, South Dakota). PPL Montana is owned by PPL Corporation (NYSE:PPL) (Allentown, Pennsylvania).

The purchased facilities include the Black Eagle Dam (Great Falls, Montana), Holter Dam (Wolf Creek), Ryan Dam (Great Falls, Montana), Cochrane Dam (Great Falls, Montana), Madison Dam (Ennis, Montana), Hauser lake Dam (Helena, Montana), Mystic Dam (Fishtail, Montana), Morony Dam (Great Falls, Montana), Kerr Dam (Polson, Montana), Rainbow Dam (Great Falls, Montana) and Thompson Falls Dam (Clark Fork River).

NorthWestern Energy also partiality owns other plants, such as the Coyote Power Station (Beulah, North Dakota) and Big Stone Power Station (Big Stone, South Dakota), among others. It also fully owns the of Dave Gates Generating Station (Anaconda, Montana).

The acquisition was effective November 17. NorthWestern said it raised residential electric bills 4.22% as a result of the acquisition.
