Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--As part of its Vision 2040 and commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, Oman is intensifying efforts to expand its renewable energy sector. The country aims to generate 30% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, rising to 39% by 2040, with a strong emphasis on utility-scale wind and solar power.
In support of this target, the Omani government, through Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Ruwi, Oman)), has initiated a series of large-scale wind energy projects. These developments are primarily located in the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, with key project sites including Jalan Bani Bu Ali, Sadah, Ras Madrakah, Mahout, Al Jazzer, and Shaleem.
Collectively, these projects are expected to contribute approximately 1.8 gigawatts of installed wind capacity by 2030, marking a significant step toward diversifying the national energy mix and reducing carbon emissions.
