Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Arevon Energy (Scottsdale, Arizona) has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for an Indiana solar project, one of $12 billion worth of active solar-generation projects in Indiana being tracked by Industrial Info. Most of the activity in the pre-construction phase.

Arevon has selected Bechtel Corporation (Reston, Virginia) to design and construct the Posey Solar Plant in Mount Vernon, which Arevon is jointly developing with CenterPoint Energy Incorporated (NYSE:CNP) (Houston, Texas). CenterPoint will distribute the expected 200 megawatts (MW) of solar generation, enough clean energy to power more than 25,000 Indiana homes, according to a press release. Bechtel will provide EPC, commissioning and project management services.

According to the project website, construction is expected to begin in first-quarter 2024 and operations are expected to begin a year later.

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association's (SEIA) data as of second-quarter 2023, Indiana ranks 21st among U.S. states in terms of installed solar capacity--down from 18th in 2022.

Despite the dip in capacity, Industrial Info is tracking $12 billion of active solar-generation projects in Indiana. This includes two other projects from Arevon: the Gibson Solar Plant in Princeton will utilize First Solar Incorporated's (NASDAQ:FSLR) (Tempe, Arizona) Series 6 photovoltaic (PV) solar modules to generate 280 MW, while the Swallowtail solar project in Hope will feature 200 MW of solar generation. The projects are expected to kick off in April and September of next year, respectively. Subscribers can see detailed reports on the Gibson and Swallowtail projects.

Meanwhile, NextEra Energy Incorporated (NYSE:NEE) (Juno Beach, Florida) is developing a proposed $530 million expansion of the Dunns Bridge Solar Plant in Tefft. The project is expected to kick off in mid-2024 and would add 435 MW of capacity to the existing 265 MW.

When completed, Dunns Bridge will be the largest solar array east of the Mississippi River, according to the company. Subscribers can read detailed project reports on the Dunns Bridge Phase I and Phase II solar plants.

Among the Indiana solar projects under construction is AES Corporation's (NYSE:AES) (Arlington County, Virginia) $190 million Hardy Hills Solar Plant near Frankfort, which will utilize PV panels for 195 MW of solar generation. EPC firm Cupertino Electric Incorporated (San Jose, California) is expected to wrap up construction in the fourth quarter. Click here for the project report.

Also underway is Ranger Power's (Chicago, Illinois) $175 million Speedway solar project in Gwynneville in Shelby County. In June, a unit of Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina), Duke Energy Indiana, agreed to a 20-year power purchase agreement for up to 199 MW of power from the project, which is expected to be completed in 2025. Subscribers can learn more information in the project report.
