Patriot Renewables Shooting for Mid-August Completion of Illinois Ethanol Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Investor-owned ethanol start-up Patriot Renewable Fuels LLC (Annawan, Illinois), formed in January 2005, is shooting for a mid-August start-up of its new fuel ethanol plant in Annawan. Construction started in October 2006.

The company is wrapping up construction activities and is testing equipment, training employees and putting on finishing touches in anticipation of the start-up. The plant was designed and built by the team of Fagen/ICM, and various local construction companies aided in construction of the $200 million-plus plant.

When fully operational, the plant will produce 100 million gallons per year of ethanol from corn feedstock and generate 320,000 tons of distillers grains. Approximately 150,000 bushels of corn will be required to feed the facility and two 500,000-bushel concrete silos are at the site where corn will be stored.

The plant is on a 140-acre site in Henry County about 25 miles east of the Quad Cities Area. The plant has access to excellent highway and interstate infrastructure as well as to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (NYSE:BNI) (Fort Worth, Texas) and Union Pacific Railroad (NYSE:UNP) (Omaha, Nebraska) lines.

Once completed, Patriot will be the 13th ethanol plant operating in Illinois. Additional ethanol plants are under construction in Canton, Galva and Gibson cities.

Completion of the plant is scheduled for August of 2010.
