Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Henan No.2 Thermal Power Construction Company (HTPC2) (Zhengzhou, Henan), a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing), erected the first steel beam for the No. 2 boiler of Xinjiang Shenhuo Coal & Power Company Limited's (Wucaiwan, Changji) 1,400-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station to its final position on May 12, 2012. The erection for the project has now kicked off, the PCCC announced on May 18.
Xinjiang Shenhuo Coal & Power's coal-fired power station is a support thermal power plant for Henan Shenhuo Group Company Limited's (Yongcheng, Henan) 1.6 million-metric-ton-per-year (MM T/yr), high-grade, aluminum-alloy, electricity- and coal-integrated complex planned in the Wucaiwan Development Zone of East Junggar Coal, Electricity and Chemical Industry Zone, in the Changji prefecture of the Xinjiang autonomous region.
Early in December 2010, Shenhuo Group signed a development agreement with the government of Changji prefecture for the construction of a $7.3 billion aluminum-alloy, integrated cyclic economic industry park in Changji. According to the planning, the industrial park will have a 1.6 MM T/yr, high-precision aluminum-alloy project, together with an 800,000 ton-per-year carbon black; a 3,500-MW self-service power plant; and a 30 MM T/yr coal mine to be built in phases. Of which, the power station will have four 350-MW, supercritical, indirect air-cooling coal-fired units in Phase I.
In order to ensure the timely kick off of the erection for the project, the project office of HTPC2 has overcome bad weather conditions, such as strong wind and sunshine in the vast Gobi of Xinjiang, since the winning the general construction contract for the project. In the next, HTPC2 will work closely with the project owner, as well as related parties, to ensure timely commissioning of the project. According to the schedule, all four units of Phase I will begin operations in the period from June to October 2013.
