PIC Selects Contractor for Expansion of Kentucky Research Lab

Site work began in late October on an expansion that will attach an additional 6,000 square feet to the facility and will expand the companies swine research lab plus add a new lab to perform research for a newly acquired aquaculture division to develop shrimp breeding stock.

PIC selected local contractor Alliance Corporation (Glasgow, Kentucky) to construct the new buildings that are 3,000 square feet each. Alliance will also be responsible for relocating lab equipment from a facility in Berkley, California. Once the project is complete in April of next year, PIC plans to hire an additional 25 employees to the facility.

PIC and corporate Sygen have been busy the past couple months making acquisitions to expand the company portfolio. The company recently acquired Cotswold Swine Genetics of North America in Minnesota and Aquatec, Brazil's leading shrimp breeding stock producer to further leverage technology and global leadership in the shrimp and swine breeding market.
