PTT Asahi Chemical Readies to Close Factory in Thailand

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--PTT Asahi Chemical Company Limited (PTTAC), a 50:50 joint venture (JV) between PTT Global Chemical Company Limited (PTTGC) and Asahi Kasei Corporation, is closing its Thailand factory due to a declining economic environment and increasing raw material costs.

PTTAC was established in 2006 to manufacture ammonium sulfate, both from 200,000 tons per year of acrylonitrile (AN) through a propane process, and 70,000 tons per year of methyl methacrylate (MMA) through an ACH process. By January 1, 2025, PTTAC will discontinue the selling and supply of its products. It plans to dismantle the facility from 2025 to 2028.
