Sage V Foods Plans to Start Construction for Arkansas Rice Plant Soon

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held Sage V Foods LLC (Los Angeles, California) plans to proceed with major construction this spring of a new individually quick frozen (IQF) plant in Little Rock, Arkansas. The company announced last fall that it would move production from leased space on the site of American Rice Incorporated plant in Houston and build a $20 million facility in the Port of Little Rock Industrial Park. Initial plans call for the construction of a 100,000-square-foot building on a 31-acre site at the corner of Sloane Drive and Frazier Pike with the potential for expansion of up to 270,000 square feet.

The Little Rock plant will produce IQF rice for the industrial and restaurant chain markets and will produce IQF organic rice under Sage's retail brand "Rice Expressions."

Sage V has retained MAY Construction Company (Little Rock) as the general contractor for the plant. Site preparation is underway, and Sage V plans to proceed with the construction phase by the end of the first quarter. The facility is scheduled to be operational by the end of the year.

In addition to the Little Rock facility, Sage V owns a rice flour mill in Stuttgart, Arkansas, that came online in 2005.
