Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--A subsidiary of Sinohydro Corporation (Beijing) has won the bid for the underground powerhouse construction works at the Dunhua Pump-Storage Power Station, Sinohydro announced recently.
The contract to Sinohydro Bureau 16 Company Limited (Fuzhou, Fujian) is valued at $45 million. Construction is scheduled to kick off July 1, 2014.
The Dunhua Pump-Storage Power Station, located at the northern boundary of Dunhua City in the Jilin province and Hailin City in the Heilongjiang province, is an investment by State Grid Xinyuan Holding Company Limited (Beijing), a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (Beijing), which is mainly engaged in the development and operation of pump-storage power stations around China.
The project comprises upper and lower reservoirs, a water passage system, an underground powerhouse, and the surface gas insulated switchgear (GIS). The underground powerhouse will be furnished with four 350-megawatt (MW) Francis turbine and pump reversible generating units. Total installed capacity will be 1,400 MW.
As a controlling key project, the underground powerhouse system includes the underground powerhouse, the main transformer tunnel, the busbar tunnel, ventilation entries, the ventilation room, the exhaust ventilation tunnel, the exhaust ventilation shaft, the main transformer transportation tunnel, access tunnels, the powerhouse draining gallery and passage, and the draining tunnel.
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) approved the project on October 24, 2012. The generating units are to be supplied by Harbin Electric Machinery Company Limited (Harbin, Heilongjiang) and Dongfang Electric Corporation Dongfang Electric Machinery Company Limited (Deyang, Sichuan). Sinohydro Beijing is responsible for the design and engineering of the project. According to the schedule, the project will be completed in March 2020.
