Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Australia's Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Roadmap is designed to develop a domestic low-carbon fuel industry using renewable feedstocks, such as agricultural waste, animal fats and municipal waste, to reduce dependency on jet fuel imports, reduce emissions and support emerging technologies.
Australia's federal government is working closely with the developers of five domestic SAF projects to address Australia's demand for jet fuel:
- Jet Zero Australia Pty Ltd, with the backing of Qantas Airways and Airbus, is spearheading Project Ulysses, which aims to produce 102 million pounds per year of SAF using agricultural waste by 2027; see project report.
- Oceania Biofuels Pty Limited's SAF plant will produce 350 million pounds per year from sugarcane and associated by-products; project report.
- Ampol Refineries (QLD) Pty Limited, in partnership with ENEOS, is conducting a feasibility study for an advanced biofuel manufacturing plant that targets 500 million pounds per year of SAF and renewable diesel; see project report.
- Amp Energy and Iron Road Limited signed a strategic partnership for Cape Hardy Advanced Fuels Project to produce SAF, green hydrogen, green ammonia and green methanol; see project report.
- Simply Blue Group is eyeing SAF projects in Australia, Europe and Canada; see project report.
