Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). The Hess Collection Winery (Napa, California) a privately held company has begun site work and building construction for a new winery in Napa County.
Industrial Commercial Contractors (Madera, California) has been selected to construct the 290,000 square foot building located in American Canyon within the Green Island Industrial Park.
The new winery will be used for crushing, fermenting and bottling chardonnay grapes from the Hess's 180-acre vineyard that runs along Highway 29. Back in February of this year, six wind machines were install at the vineyard to protect the vines from frost.
The company hopes to have the building enclosed by years end when the aging, punch-down fermentation tanks, and 100 bottle per minute bottling line and associated equipment are expected to arrive on-site.
Once the estimated $20 million winery is completed in the spring of 2003, about 50 to 100 additional jobs will be created.
The Hess Collection vineyards began back in 1986 and the winery in Napa opened in 1989. The company has outgrown the Napa production facility and has planted a new vineyard in Pope Valley California prompting the construction of the new winery. The new winery will not be open to the public or offer tasting. A visitor's center and tasting room will be part of the winery's future expansion plans.
