Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Industrial Company (TIC) (Englewood, Colorado) is a construction firm offering services in many different sectors, including mining and power projects. Industrial Info is tracking more than $5.3 billion worth of U.S. projects involving TIC.
Among the largest projects TIC is at work on is Entergy Corporation's (NYSE:ETR) (New Orleans, Louisiana) Orange County Advanced Power Station, near the Texas Gulf Coast. The natural gas-fired, combined-cycle plant will provide more than 1,200 megawatts (MW) of power to the regional grid. TIC is handling construction services, while Sargent & Lundy (Chicago, Illinois) is the engineer of record and Mitsubishi Power (Yokohama, Japan) is responsible for the generation equipment. Construction is expected to kick off this summer, taking about three years to complete. In addition to natural gas, the facility also will be capable of using hydrogen as a fuel source, aiding Entergy in its emissions-reduction goals. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Power Project Database can click here for more details.
Another power project on which TIC recently began work also will be able to burn both natural gas and hydrogen. Kindle Energy LLC (Princeton, New Jersey) is constructing a grassroot power plant in Plaquemine, Louisiana, that will be able to use up to 50% hydrogen in its fuel mix. Upon completion, expected in 2025, the facility will generate more than 700 MW. The Magnolia Power Generating Station will supply power to five rural utility cooperatives across Louisiana. TIC is providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. Subscribers can click here for more details.
TIC also is at work on some renewable energy projects, such as National Grid plc's (NYSE:NGG) (London, England) Copperhead solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) in Falls County, Texas. Construction kicked off in 2022 and is expected to be completed in early 2024. The facility will use approximately 420,000 solar panels to provide a nameplate generating capacity of 152 MW. The BESS unit, using lithium-ion technology, will provide 100 MW of energy when the sun isn't shining. During groundbreaking for the project, National Grid announced that it had signed a power purchase agreement with The Hershey Company (NYSE:HSY) (Hershey, Pennsylvania) for 140 MW of the facility's output. TIC is providing EPC services. Subscribers can learn more by viewing the project report.
Also for National Grid, TIC is at work on the addition of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) peak shaver unit in Providence, Rhode Island. The project entails constructing a small-scale LNG production unit to process 20 million cubic feet per day of natural gas into 400 tons per day of LNG. The gas will be sourced from a nearby pipeline and will replace the need for more than 2,500 truck deliveries before each winter. The project kicked off in 2018 and is expected to wrap up this summer. TIC is providing general contracting services on Coeur Mining Incorporated's (NYSE:CDE) (Chicago) mine expansion and leach pad addition at its above-ground Rochester gold-silver mine near Lovelock, Nevada. The project will expand the mine's boundaries and double processing capacity from 14 million tons per year to 28 million tons, increasing production to 8 million ounces of silver per year and 76,000 ounces of gold. The project also will help extend the mine's life to 2038. Construction kicked off in 2020 and is expected to be completed later this year.
