Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The examination meeting for the preliminary feasibility study report of the 600-megawatt (MW) Tianjia'an Cogeneration Power Plant Project was held at Huainan city, Anhui province, on July 9, 2008. Upon thorough review and discussion of the report, the expert panel, organized by East China Power Grid Company Limited (Shanghai), approved the project.
Tianjia'an Power Plant was initially built in 1941 and is a state-owned power plant with over 60 years of history located to the east of Huainan city. The power plant is now a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation (Beijing), one of the top five power producers in China. The power plant currently has a total installed capacity of 111.5 MW with six cogeneration units. Pre-stage preparation began in December 2006. The project will be built with two 300-MW coal-fired cogeneration units at the existing site of the power plant, after dismantling four small decommissioned thermal power units. The two cogeneration units could improve the comprehensive energy utilization rate, improving the environment and quality of life in Huainan city.
