NOVA Chemicals, on November 26, was forced to shut down its 1,950 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit in Geismar, Louisiana, after completing a turnaround. The restart is expected by December 10.
Chevron Phillips, on December 6, was forced to shut down its 1,825 million-pound-per-year 1544 Ethylene Unit in Port Arthur, Texas, due to a compressor malfunction. A restart attempt is expected by December 12.
Braskem America, is on schedule to perform a three- to-four-week maintenance turnaround at its 661 million-pound-per-year Polypropylene plant in Kenova, West Virginia, in March 2022. The turnaround will primarily consist of work delayed from 2020 due to COVID-19.
International
Sadara Chemical Company has rescheduled a 40-day planned turnaround of the 3,307 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit at its Jubail Chemical Complex in Saudi Arabia. The turnaround now is expected to begin February 23, 2023, with completion expected by April 1.
Showa Denko KK remains on schedule to perform a 50-day planned turnaround of the 1,091 million-pound-per-year Ethylene Unit 2 (C2) at its Oita Petrochemicals & Chemical Complex in Japan, beginning March 2, 2022. The restart is expected by April 20. A 66-day planned turnaround of the 441 million-pound-per-year Ethylene Unit 1 (C1) is on schedule to begin February 19, 2022, with the restart expected by April 25, 2023.
