Hastings Utilities Department took the coal-fired 76-megawatt (MW) Gerald Whelan Energy Center Unit 1 in Nebraska offline on April 30 due to rotor and valve issues. There was no firm timeline on the return to operations at this time.

Portlands Energy Centre LP has taken the natural gas-fired 181-MW Portlands 01 Unit in Canada offline for a borescope inspection and balance-of-plant equipment inspection. The planned event will continue until May 4.
