Today's Refining Hotline Headlines

BP-Husky Refining LLC has delayed the start of a 65-day planned maintenance turnaround of five units at its 150,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery in Toledo, Ohio

North America
BP-Husky Refining LLC has delayed the start of a 65-day planned maintenance turnaround of five units at its 150,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery in Toledo, Ohio. Additional pre-turnaround work pushed the start to April 18.

Marathon, on April 4, was forced to shut down the 5,000-BBL/d Hydrofluoric (HF) Alkylation Unit at its 71,000-BBL/d refinery in Mandan, North Dakota due to a leak. As a result, the remainder of the facility has reduced rates by approximately 50%, to control inventory while repairs are ongoing. At this time, the facility is expected to return to normal operations by the end of the week.

International
PetroChina Guangdong Petrochemical Company Limited has begun test runs on offsite utilities at its new 400,000-BBL/d Jieyang Refinery in China. Five major units are expected to start final commissioning by June. Commercial startup is expected at the end of December.

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) continues operating the 86,000-BBL/d Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) 2 at 88% at its 232,000-BBL/d Manali Refinery in India. The unit is expected to resume full throughput by April 19.

Refineria di Korsou NV expects to select a new operator for the 225,800-BBL/d Willemstad Isla Curacao Refinery in the Netherlands Antilles by June or July. The processing units are offline, and will remain as such until late 2022. The refiner has been unable to advance any repair work needed for the refinery restart, which will last approximately five to six months once the new operator has been selected.
