Houston Refining LLP, a division of LyondellBasell, on June 14, shut down the 57,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Delayed Coker 737 at its 268,000-BBL/d refinery in Houston, Texas, due to a small fire at one of the unit's two heaters. The cause is under investigation, and plant personnel hope to have the unit back online by June 16.
Valero, on June 14, shut down the 96,000-BBL/d Heavy Oil Cracker unit due to mechanical issues at its 232,700-BBL/d refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. The unit is estimated to be back online by June 18.
International
MOL Nyrt, on June 14, was forced to shut down the 57,000-BBL/d Crude Distillation (CD) 2 and 57,000-BBL/d Vacuum 2 units at its 160,000-BBL/d Szazhalombatta Duna Refinery in Hungary, due to a fire. A damage assessment is underway, and the units are expected to remain offline for at least two weeks.
S-Oil Corporation on June 14, began a 24-day planned maintenance turnaround of the 240,000-BBL/d Crude 2 unit and 43,000-BBL/d HDS (Kero & Diesel Hydrodesulfurization) Unit 2 at its 669,000-BBL/d Onsan Refinery in South Korea. The restart is expected by July 7.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited, on June 13, was forced to shut down the 84,000-BBL/d Fluid Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU) at its 300,000-BBL/d Paradip Refinery in India, due to leakage in the unit's riser line. As a result, the 180,000-BBL/d VGO Hydrotreater is running at 80%. The units are expected to resume normal operations by June 18.
