ExxonMobil, today, March 22, was forced to shut down the 65,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Hydrocracker at its 600,000-BBL/d refinery in Beaumont, Texas, after experiencing compressor issues. A restart timeline has yet to be established and IIR continues to call for updates.
Suncor's 98,000-BBL/d Denver Refinery in Commerce City, Colorado, remains shut down following Winter Storm Elliot. The Plant 1 (West) and Plant 2 (East) were shut down due to the severity of the storm, and Plant 2 experienced a fire during a restart process while the units were still down. The company is still looking at a possible restart in late March, but it depends on regulatory compliance issues.
Cenovus Energy has begun limited production at its 49,000-BBL/d refinery in Superior, Wisconsin, after a fire and explosion shut down the facility in 2018. The facility is producing asphalt and diesel. The 13,000-BBL/d Fluid Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU) is not scheduled to return to production until June or July.
