Dangote Industries Limited, on March 20, commenced operations of the crude unit at the 650,000-BBL/d Lekki Refinery in Nigeria. The unit currently is operating at 50% capacity. Additionally, the 103,000-BBL/d naphtha hydrotreater and the 96,000-BBL/d reformer units are tentatively scheduled to begin commercial operations by early May, which is when the 143,000-BBL/d Mild Hydrocracker unit is expected to start its trial run. Commercial operations are tentatively scheduled to begin by the end of May. IIR will continue to monitor for any additional updates.
TANECO OJSC's 303,000-BBL/d Taneco Refinery in Russia was hit by a drone attacked on April 2. As a result, one of the crude units, most likely the 155,000-BBL/d ABT-7 (Crude 01), was affected by the attack; however, we are hearing unit operations are not affected. IIR will issue an update as soon as confirmations are made.
Total Refining & Chemicals is beginning to restart its 230,000-BBL/d Donges Refinery in France, which completely shut down on March 1 to facilitate repair works on leaking and corroded pipes. Expectations are to have the refinery back online, processing at normal capacity, around April 8.
