Two Thermal Power Projects Pass 168-Hour Trial Operations in China

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Unit 1 of the Jiangsu Kanshan power plant's Phase I project, the first ultra-supercritical 600-megawatt (MW) coal-fired unit of China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) (Beijing), went into official operation on October 22, 2007, in eastern China's Jiangsu Province after passing its 168-hour full-load trial operation.

The project will have two 600-MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired units. Construction began on September 1, 2005. It took 25 months from the beginning of construction until the first unit went into operation. The project uses advanced ultra-supercritical power generation technology together with flue gas desulfurization and de-nitration devices. The project is a demonstration project for a similar unit in China and is also an important research subject in the country's "863" program with many technologies used the first time in China. The trial operation's success has laid a firm foundation for Unit 2.

Just one day earlier, Unit 4 of CPI's Fuxin Power Generation Company (Liaoning, China) passed its 168-hour full-load trial operation and was handed over for commercial operation in northeastern China's Liaoning Province, marking the completion of the company's Phase III project.

The $366.5 million Phase III project is furnished with two 350-MW coal-fired units with a flue gas desulfurization device. Construction officially began September 20, 2004.
