U.S., Canada Chemical Industry Launches Second-Quarter Turnaround Binge
Industrial Info is tracking more than $600 million in U.S. and Canadian chemical plant maintenance turnaround activity that will kick off in the second quarter.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--U.S. and Canadian chemical plants are gearing up for more than $620 million in maintenance turnarounds for the next quarter. Industrial Info is tracking 225 such turnarounds that are scheduled for April through June.
The second-quarter turnarounds range in total investment value (TIV) from $350,000 to $80 million. Several other maintenance turnarounds fall in the $20 million-plus range. Braskem America Incorporated, (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is planning a major maintenance turnaround at its 705 million-pound-per-year polypropylene resins plant in Freeport, Texas. In Canada, NOVA Chemicals Corporation (Calgary, Alberta) is planning a 30-day maintenance turnaround at its 2.8 billion-pound-per-year E3 Ethylene Unit in Joffre, Alberta. The turnaround will take place in May. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Back in Texas, Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) (The Woodlands, Texas) is planning a 45-day turnaround at its 400 million-pound-per-year Port Neches A3 Ethylene Unit, to be completed in June. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
