Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is currently tracking more than 12 projects worth $632.8 million in the missile, satellite and space vehicle manufacturing sector. Of these projects, three are valued at more than $100 million each.

As government financing for space exploration lessens, private companies like Blue Origin (Kent, Washington) are starting their own private manufacturing plants for orbital launch vehicles. Blue Origin's plant will cost approximately $200 million and is funded by Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington). On the 139-acre site, a 750,000-square-foot orbital rocket manufacturing plant is being built, which will be completed by the end of the year. These rockets will be launched at Cape Canaveral.

Norsk Titanium U.S. Incorporated (New York, New York) is constructing a new aerospace component manufacturing plant in Plattsburgh, New York. The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (Baltimore, Maryland) is acting as general contractor on the $129 million, 162,000-square-foot facility. The company is manufacturing MERKE IV rapid plasma deposition machines. It plans to start construction in November, and the facility will take about a year to complete.

Spaceport Camden (Woodbine, Georgia) is building a $100 million space vehicle launch and landing facility on 40 acres of a 4,000 acre-site. The company hopes to launch 12 commercial space vehicles when completed in the fall of 2018.

As a whole, aerospace construction, which has been at a virtual standstill since the decline of funding for NASA, will greatly increase in the upcoming years due to innovations such as 3D printing and the ability to create better industrial parts cheaper and faster.
