Biden Administration Offers $1.2 Billion to Distressed, Shut Nuclear Plants - The Biden administration said on Thursday it is offering a fresh round of $1.2 billion in aid to extend the life of distressed nuclear power plants and those that have recently closed. The funding comes from the $6 billion Civil Nuclear Credit program, created by the 2021 infrastructure law, and will be distributed by the U.S. Department of Energy. In this second round, the money is available to plants at risk of closure within a few years, but also for the first time, plants that stopped operating after November 15, 2021. (Reuters)
PRODUCTION
J.P. Morgan: Russia Can Maintain Oil Output at Pre-Conflict Levels - J.P. Morgan on Thursday forecast Russia would be able to maintain its oil output at pre-Ukraine-conflict levels due to steady demand from China and India but said it might struggle to reroute some of its oil product exports away from Europe. "We believe Russia will be able to maintain its oil production at pre-war levels of 10.8 million barrels per day (BBL/d) but will have difficulties getting back to peak pre-COVID volumes of 11.3 million BBL/d," the bank said. J.P. Morgan expects Indian and Chinese demand collectively to increase by 1 million BBL/d this year. (Reuters)
LNG
U.S. LNG Exports Flat in February - U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) were flat last month at 6.84 million tonnes, shipping data showed on Thursday, even as Freeport LNG's (Houston, Texas) long-idled Texas processing facility began shipping the fuel during an ongoing restart. A total of 96 LNG cargoes set sail from U.S. ports last month, according to Eikon trade flows data. The volume shipped was roughly the same as in January. (Reuters)
