U.S. Sees $16 Billion in Grassroot Project Completions for January-May 2016
Industrial Info has tracked nearly $16 billion in U.S. grassroot projects that were completed during January through May.
Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Led by the Power Industry, including a 1,358-megawatt power station in Virginia, the U.S. saw the completion of nearly $16 billion in grassroot projects from January through May, according to Industrial Info's database. Other high-dollar completions for the first five months of this year included a data center in Texas and gas processing facility in Alaska.

Power-related projects led the pack with $5.6 billion in planned completions. Dominion Resources Incorporated's (NYSE:D) (Richmond, Virginia) $1.3 billion Brunswick County Energy Center in Lawrenceville, Virginia, was completed in May. The 1,358-MW, natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant has three Mitsubishi MHI501GAC model combustion turbines and a Mitsubishi TC4F steam turbine. Fluor Corporation (NYSE:FLR) (Irving, Texas) was the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services provider. Industrial Manufacturing completions came in second, with projects totaling $3.1 billion. T5 Data Centers' (Atlanta, Georgia) $500 million data center in Plano, Texas, was completed in March. Fortis Construction Incorporated (Portland, Oregon) served as the general contractor for the 315,000 square-foot facility. For more information on the project, see Industrial Info's project report.
Oil & Gas Production completions followed with more than $2.7 billion in projects. Exxon Mobil Corporation's (ExxonMobil) (NYSE:XMO) (Irving, Texas) $1.3 billion Point Thomson Gas Processing plant in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, was set for estimated completion in April. It includes the drilling of five wells as well as access roads, a camp, air strip, a service pier, a gravel mine and a 22-mile condensate transmission pipeline with a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day (BBL/d), along with a gas condensate production and gas recycling plant to produce 10,000 BBL/day of liquid condensates.
