Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Investor-owned Wagner Native Ethanol LLC (Wagner, South Dakota) has announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with Questus Global Capital Market Limited (GXG:QGCM) (Shediac, New Brunswick), which is in the business of capitalizing select businesses by securing a master dividend payment for its shareholders. Wagner Native Ethanol seeks to raise the final financing for its new fuel ethanol plant, which will be in Wagner, South Dakota.
The ethanol project has been around since 2007, and originally the project was to begin construction back in the fall of 2008. Then the ethanol boom busted, and the project was dead in the water at the beginning of early 2010. Since that time, Wagner Native Ethanol has been struggling to find financing for the estimated $160 million-plus project. With Questus on board, the project has a good chance of beginning this year.
When financing is secured, Wagner Native Ethanol will utilize the design-build team of Fagen/ICM to design and construct the plant. When completed, the plant will produce 71 million gallons per year of fuel ethanol and more than 190,000 tons of distillers dried grains, utilizing 23.7 million bushels of South Dakota corn annually.
This time around, WNE will utilize fractionation and oil recovery technology that is expected to increase the return on investment by about 24.4%. Additional by-products include corn oil, carbon dioxide and fertilizer. A typical dry-mill fuel ethanol plant at best gets a return on investment of between 5% and 9%.
If construction begins this year, it is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete. It could be producing fuel ethanol by the first quarter of 2014.
