Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 576-megawatt (MW), coal-fired Unit 2 at Fort Martin Power Station, which is located in Maidsville, West Virginia, was shut down Tuesday, April 14, due to an air heater issue. The plant is owned by FirstEnergy Corporation (NYSE:FE) (Akron, Ohio).
Plant officials said that they have analyzed the issue and have begun repairs. They also plan to perform a wash while the unit is offline. Officials say the unit could be returned to service by Sunday, if there are no delays.
