Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Williams Companies (NYSE:WMB)(Tulsa, Oklahoma) is planning to construct a new natural gas pipeline lateral in Colorado. The planned 33-mile, 30 diameter pipeline will originate near the Greasewood, Colorado area and will interconnect with the Northwest Pipeline near the Rangely Compressor station near Rangely, Colorado. If constructed, the pipeline will have an initial natural gas throughput capacity of over 500 million cubic feet per day.
The scope of the proposed $50 million pipeline project will include pipeline only and no compression will be needed. The purpose of the new pipeline lateral will be to provide needed export capacity for the growing volumes of natural gas production in the Rocky Mountains.
Williams expects to complete demand studies and, if determined viable, Williams intends to file with the FERC sometime in the fall of 2006. All things going well, Williams expects to select contractors and begin construction on the proposed natural gas pipeline lateral some time in late 2007.
