Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Officials at the Point Beach Nuclear Station, located in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, shut down the 600-megawatt (MW) Unit 2 after experiencing an instrumentation control issue. The station is owned by Next Era Energy Resources (Juno Beach, Florida), a subsidiary of FPL Group Incorporated (NYSE:FPL).

Officials are still investigating the cause. Plant sources said that the unit will be returned online by Thursday, or earlier if the repair is completed ahead of schedule, if there are no delays.
Point Beach has one other generating unit that continues to operate at full load. The units have a total 1,225 megawatts (MW) when generating at full capacity.
