Zeeland Farm Services Targets 2Q10 to Resume Production at Nebraska Ethanol Plant

The Cambridge plant, currently owned by Standard Ethanol LLC (North Platte, Nebraska), began production in early 2008, but has not produced ethanol since January 2009. Plant operators Mid-America Bio-Energy & Commodities LLC (North Platte) filed for bankruptcy protection in June 2009, leading to a permanent shutdown of the plant.

The 40 million-gallon-per-year plant utilizes Delta-T Incorporated (Williamsburg, Virginia) licensed ethanol process technology and was built by TIC Incorporated (Steamboat Springs, Colorado). The plant can process more than 15 million bushels of corn annually and generate 420,000 tons per year of wet distillers grains, a byproduct of ethanol production.

Once the restart is complete, the company plans to plans to hire 30 to 35 people to operate the plant.

Standard Ethanol also operates a 44 million-gallon-per-year ethanol plant in Madrid, Nebraska, and the company expects to continue normal operation of this facility.
