Jonah Gas Gathering Continues to Expand its Wyoming Natural Gas Production

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Jonah Gas Gathering Company (Pinedale, Wyoming) is planning to further expand its Jonah gas gathering system. Presently, the Jonah system, located near Rock Springs, Wyoming, produces and processes just over 1.2 billion cubic of natural gas. Jonah has been examining the feasibility of bringing the Jonah system up to a total production capacity of approximately two billion cubic feet per day over the next few years. To achieve part of this new production capacity, Jonah is proposing several gathering system expansions, as well as facility and compressor unit additions.

In 2005, Jonah is planning to construct the long planned Paradise compressor station in the Rock Springs area. The proposed station will utilize two Caterpillar 3612 internal combustion engine packages rated at 3,668 horsepower, with Adam-3 ignition systems. The Paradise compressor station will include a stabilizer and liquids unit, as well as a 20,000-gallon slug catcher, and a 30,000-gallon flash tank. Paradise expects to begin construction on the new $40-50 million compressor station in the first quarter of 2005, with completion targeted for August 2005.

Looking in later 2005, Jonah is planning to add an additional two Caterpillar 3612 engine compressor packages to the Paradise plant, bringing the total horsepower to 14,672. Jonah expects the second phase of construction to take place beginning in late August 2005, with completion in February or March of 2006. In the same time frame, Jonah expects to add two more Caterpillar 3612 engine compressor packages to the existing Bird Canyon natural gas processing plant. Several miles of natural gas pipeline looping will be installed to link the new capacity of the field together.
