Researched by Industrial Info Research Latin America (Córdoba, Argentina)--Last April, Coeur d'Alene Mines (NYSE:CDE) (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) signed a definitive agreement to acquire Orko Silver Corporation (TSX:OK) (Vancouver, Canada), after First Majestic Silver (NYSE:AG) (Vancouver,) chose not to match Coeur's bigger offer.

Orko Silver Corporation's main asset, the La Preciosa Silver-Gold Project in Mexico's Durango state, gives Coeur d'Alene a large-scale development opportunity that is expected to produce between 7 million and 9 million ounces of silver annually. It will be a key contributor to the production and cash flow of the firm.

Coeur d'Alene has engaged M3 Engineering to prepare a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) that is expected to be completed in the next few months. Feasibility studies are planned to begin in early 2014, followed by engineering work and construction. The mine is expected to be operational in mid-2016.

Coeur D'Alene Mines Corporation is a large primary silver-gold producer with assets in the U.S., Australia and several Latin American. Its assets include the Palmarejo Mine in Mexico and San Bartolome Mine in Bolivia. The company also owns exploration projects in Argentina.
