Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Cordoba, Argentina)--Bolivian hydrocarbons company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) (La Paz, Bolivia) has postponed the construction of the urea and ammonia units that are part of a fertilizers complex that is to be located in Bulo Bulo, Carrasco province, in El Gran Chaco Department. The execution of the project will kick off in July.
The contract for the construction of the complex has been awarded to Samsung Engineering (Seoul, South Korea) through an $843 million turn-key contract. The agreement includes the execution of the detailed engineering, construction and start up, as well as a two-year period to operate and perform maintenance at the facility. Civil works and dirt-moving were first scheduled to start in April of this year, but civil construction has been postponed for three more months due to a delay in the selection of the company that will be responsible for the supervision of the turn-key contract.
YPFB expects to award the contract in June, during the second round of bidding, and begin civil construction in July. Meanwhile, the South Korean turn-key company continues working on the detailed engineering of the fertilizers complex.
YPFB authorities said that Samsung Engineering is committed to completing the construction of the units and handing over the complex for operations in October 2015, as well as to working jointly with all the parties involved in order to comply with the established schedule.
