Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--Engineering and construction company Construcap (Sao Paulo, Brazil) began site preparation for the installation of a 49-kilometer, bidirectional-flow, crude oil and refined products pipeline between the Campos Eliseos Crude Oil Terminal (TECAM) and the planned Rio de Janeiro Petrochemical Complex (COMPERJ Refinery), both operated by Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. (NYSE:PBR) (Petrobras) (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). The total investment value of this project is about $120 million.
The COMPERJ-to-TECAM pipeline will have six lines of 49 kilometers, which will vary from 10 to 32 inches in diameter. It will have a transmission capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day (CBM/d) of crude oil and 5,000 to 60,000 CBM/d of different refined products, such as fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, liquefied natural gas (LPG) and jet fuel.
The pipeline also includes the construction of two new pump stations for the fluid transmission, one in COMPERJ Refinery and other in TECAM Terminal. The COMPERJ Pump Station will be constructed by GDK Engenharia (Salvador, Brazil), while the TECAM Pump Station project is currently in its bidding phase.
Upon project completion, which is scheduled by the third quarter 2015, Transpetro S.A. (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) will be responsible for the pipeline and pump station operations. Transpetro is a subsidiary of Petrobras, and its main activities are storage, transportation and logistics services of crude oil, natural gas and refined products.
