AEPC1 Wins Construction Contract for Unit 6 of China Huadian's Kashi Thermal Power Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--After winning of the construction contract for Bid A (Unit 5) of Huadian Kashi Thermal Power Company Limited's (Kashi, Xinjiang) 700-megawatt (MW) cogeneration expansion project, Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (AEPC1) (Hefei, Anhui), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), recently signed the construction contract for Bid B (Unit 6) of the same project, and become the only main contractor for both bids, according to an announcement from the CEEC on July 27, 2012.

The Huadian Kashi cogeneration expansion project is the first cogeneration project with supercritical units at 350 MW to receive approval in Xinjiang. The project is located at the Century Avenue of Kashi City, near the existing site of the Huadian Kashi Power Plant. As reported, the project will be furnished with two 350-MW, supercritical, steam turbine generating units, together with two 1,200-ton-per-hour coal-fired boilers, as well as a high-efficiency electrostatic dust remover, a limestone/plaster wet method desulfurization device, a low-nitrogen oxide burner, a selective catalyst reduction (SCR) unit, and a 210-meter-high chimney for flue gas processing. Total investment in the project will be about $514 million.

Construction of Bid A (Unit 5) kicked off in September 2011. According to the new contract, APEC1 will be responsible for the construction of the main works of Unit 6, the ash storage, the pump room for circulating water, the access roads, and underground facilities in the plant area. The awarding of Bid B to APEC1 again fully demonstrated the confidence of the project owner on APEC1, which is very meaningful for further expansion of the market share of APEC1, as well as the entire CEEC in the energy construction market of Xinjiang.
