Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Apex Clean Energy (Charlottesville, Virginia) has finalized the acquisition of the 160-megawatt (MW) Midway Windfarm project in San Patricio, Texas, from TradeWind Energy (Lenexa, Kansas).
Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2014 and be completed before the end of the year. Another Apex wind project in Texas is expected to follow a similar schedule: the 165-MW Cameron Wind Project near Brownsville, Texas. Both projects have an estimated total investment value of $300 million. The Midway Windfarm will have 70 Siemens 2.3-MW wind turbines.
Industrial Info is tracking nine Apex wind projects valued with a combined TIV of more than $8 billion. The most ambitious of these projects is the Hampton Roads offshore windfarm, off the coast of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Construction on the project is tentatively expected to begin in 2016, and completion in 2017.
