Researched by Industrial Info Resources Australia (Perth, Australia)--AusGroup Limited (Perth, Australia), via subsidiary AusGroup (AGC) Thailand, won a $9.96 million (AU$10.5 million) insulation subcontract for the Ichthys Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project.
CUEL Limited (Bangkok, Thailand), the Thai company performing a major contract for the onshore portion of the Ichthys LNG project (packages 4, 5 and 6) awarded the insulation subcontract to AGC Thailand. CUEL's scope of work includes construction engineering, procurement, fabrication, onshore commissioning, and the load-out and sea fastening of modules. CUEL began assembly of three module packages at its Laem Chabang fabrication yard in Thailand last month: inter-connecting pre-assembled racks (package 4), jetty pre-assembled racks (package 5) and slug-catcher modules (package 6).
AGC Thailand will perform the full scope of works at the Laem Chabang yard. AGC Thailand will supply, fabricate and install all cryogenic, acoustic and hot insulation works. The completed pre-assembled modules will be transported to the Ichthys LNG downstream site, at Blaydin Point in Darwin, in the second half of 2015.
CUEL awarded a contract to Master Solution Company Limited (MSL) (Rayong, Thailand) for electrical and instrumentation works.
A large amount of work for the Ichthys project is being undertaken in Thailand by Thai-based companies. The Laem Chabang yard is the main assembly yard and load-out facility on the Eastern coast of Thailand.
The Ichthys onshore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) consortium includes JGC Corporation (TYO:1693) (Tokyo, Japan), KBR Incorporated (NYSE:KBR) (Houston, Texas) and Chiyoda Corporation (TYO:6366) (Yokahama, Japan).
The JKC Ichthys LNG Joint Venture awarded the afore mentioned module fabrication contract for packages 4, 5 and 6 in 2012 along another contract for packages 1, 3 and 8. STP&I Public Company Limited (STP&I) is fabricating the two LNG trains (package 1); inlet, offsite and utilities modules (package 3); and minor pre-assembled racks (package 8). The timeline is the same as for the CUEL contract, with fabrication under way in 2013 to 2015 and delivery scheduled for the second half of 2015. Mechanical hook-up and commissioning onsite at Blaydin Point will be performed during 2016, with full Ichthys LNG onshore site construction completion anticipated in the final quarter of 2016.
INPEX Corporation (TYO:1605) (Tokyo, Japan) and the EPC contractors are managing the $34 billion Ichthys LNG project out of offices in Perth and Darwin in Australia, and numerous offices in Japan.
