Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Melhoramentos de Sao Paulo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) is conducting structural erection to double the production capacity in its pulp mill in Camanducaia, which is in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Company officials expect to continue through the second quarter of 2011. The total investment in the project is estimated to be about $19 million.

The project involves the construction of a second production line, which will boost the plant's capacity from the current 60,000 tons to 120,000 tons of pulp per year. Some existing equipment will be replaced (woodyard, chip-handling systems, mixers, heat exchangers,tanks), and others will be improved. The expansion project began in June of this year. Bidding to hire subcontractors will take place from December 2010 to the third quarter of 2011. The new line is tentatively scheduled to be operational in March 2012.

Camanducai Pulp Mill was inagurated in 1940 and employs approximately 200 people.
