Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)-- Following the completion of the stator construction on January 5, 2014, China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) (Yichang, Hubei), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the rotor construction for the first unit of China Three Gorges Corporation's (CTG) (Beijing) 1,200-megawatt (MW) Hohhot Pump-Storage Power Station on January 15. This is an important milestone toward the commissioning of the first unit, according to the CGGC.
As reported, the construction was performed by China Gezhouba Group Mechanical & Electrical Group Company Limited (Chengdu, Sichuan). The rotor has a diameter of 4,584 millimeters and a height of 6,060 millimeters, with a total weight of about 317 metric tons. As the heaviest part of the generating unit, the rotor is lifted by two 250-metric-ton bridge cranes working in parallel, with a total lifting capacity of about 327 metric tons.
The Hohhot Pump-Storage Power Station is located northeast of Hohhot in Daqingshan District, which is about 20 kilometers from downtown Hohot. The power station is furnished with four three-phase, 300-MW, vertical air-cooling reversible pump-storage hydraulic turbine generating units, which were manufactured by Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan), with technology imported from Alstom. The power station has a designed annual output of 2.01 billion kilowatt-hours.
According to the schedule, the first unit of the project will begin operations later this year, and all four units of the project will begin operations in 2015.
