Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The 1,320-megawatt (MW) Phase I power project for China Huadian Corporation's (Beijing) Yuheng Coal & Power Complex received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in August 2012, according to a recent announcement from China Huadian Corporation.

The Huadian Yuheng Coal & Power Complex, which is located in Yuheng Coal Chemical Industrial Park, is an important composition of the energy base planned by China Huadian Corporation in Shaanxi. The complex comprises Yuheng Power Plant, which has a total planned capacity of 5,320 megawatts (MW), including two 660-MW units and four 1,000-MW coal-fired units to be built in phases; and the Xiaojihan Coal Mine, which has a designed capacity of 10 million metric tons per year.

According to the approval, the complex will have two 660-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units built in Phase I, with the adoption of direct air-cooling technology. The project also will be furnished with a high-efficiency electrostatic dust removing system; flue gas denitration and desulfurization devices; and an online flue gas monitoring system. Upon completion, the project will be connected to the grid via 750-kilovolt power transmission lines.

The project received preliminary approval from the National Energy Administration, with consent to kick off pre-stage preparation in September 2010. Official approval indicates that the mechanical construction of the project will kick off shortly. As a key project of China Huadian Corporation in the shifting of its development mode, optimizing the economic structure, and a demonstrative project for the converting of coal into power locally in the energy and chemical industrial base planned in northern Shaanxi, construction of the project will play an important role in satisfying the increasing power demand in northern Shaanxi.
