Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--On October 8, 2013, Shandong Electric Power Construction No.2 Company (SEPCO2) (Jinan, Shandong) announced that the first unit of Shaanxi Huadian Yuheng Coal & Power Company Limited's (Yulin, Shaanxi) Yuheng Power Plant was ready to begin operations. This follows the initial startup of the steam turbine on August 28, and the unit's combined commissioning on September 29.
Prior to the combined commissioning, the startup crew performed a thorough inspection on the commissioning site and reviewed reports from the designer, erection contractor, testing contractor, production preparation team, supervisor and owner. The final inspection results were subsequently announced by Wang Shuxin, the director of Shaanxi Provincial Electric Power Construction Quality Supervision Station.
The Yuheng Power Plant, located in the Yuheng Coal and Chemical Industry Park of Yulin City, is a large-scale pithead power plant owned as a joint venture by Huadian Coal Industry Group Company Limited (Beijing), a professional subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation, and Yulin Mining Group Company Limited (Yulin, Shaanxi). It is part of the Yuheng Coal & Power Complex.
The power plant has a total planned capacity of 7,200 megawatts (MW), including two 600-MW units and six 1,000-MW units, to be built in three phases. Two 600-MW, supercritical, air-cooling, coal-fired generating units will undergo construction in Phase I. Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (Xi'an, Shaanxi) is responsible for the design and engineering of the project, and Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan) will supply the main turbine, generator and boiler equipment.
Initially, construction began in 2008; however, the project did not receive final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) until August 2012.
Presently, all parties are working toward the beginning of commercial operations of the unit. The boiler water pressure test for the second unit of the project was completed on September 27, 2013. According to the schedule, both units of Phase I of the power plant will begin commercial operations by the end of this year.
