Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--In July 2012, China's overall social power consumption reached 455.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), an increase of 4.3% year-over-year (YoY), according to the Instant Statistic Report announced by the National Energy Administration on August 14, 2012.
From January to July 2012, the accumulative social power consumption of China reached 2.83 trillion kWh, an increase of 5.4% YoY. Power consumption in the first industry reached 58.9 billion kWh, a drop of 0.4%; the second industry reached 2.1 trillion kWh, an increase of 3.6%; the third industry reached 3.19 billion kWh, an increase of 11.9%; the households of urban and township residents reached 356.9 billion kWh, up by 12.5% YoY.
From January to July 2012, the average accumulated utilization hour of power generation equipment in China reached 2,645 hours, a drop of 122 hours YoY. The average utilization hour of hydropower equipment reached 1,901 hours, an increase of 135 hours, and the average utilization hour of thermal power equipment reached 2,907 hours, a drop of 167 hours YoY.
From January to July 2012, the total installed capacity of power plants newly commissioned in China reached 28.92 gigawatts (GW). The installed capacity of hydropower added 6 GW, and the installed capacity of thermal power added 17.9 GW.
From January to July 2012, China's investment in power source construction reached $26.72 billion. The infrastructure investment in hydropower reached $9.795 billion; thermal power dropped to $7.49 billion; and nuclear power reached $5.91 billion. From January to July 2012, China's investment in grid construction reached $26.08 billion.
As of the end of July 2012, the installed capacity of power equipment in plants with capacities of more than 6 megawatts reached 1,050.1 GW, an increase of 8.3% YoY. The installed capacity of hydropower reached 202.63 GW, an increase of 6.1% YoY; thermal power reached 778.41 GW, an increase of 6.9%; and nuclear power reached 12.57 GW, an increase of 16.2%.
