Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Founded in 1984, Clayco Corporation (Overland, Missouri) has steadily grown to become one of the leading design-build firms in the U.S., with offices and projects spanning the country. Industrial Info is tracking nearly $19.7 billion worth of active projects, some started, some set for a future date, with which Clayco is involved. The projects span a range of sectors and geographies, although most of the company's projects fall within the Industrial Manufacturing Industry.

Undoubtedly, the highest-value projects on which Clayco is at work involve electric vehicles (EV) and their batteries. The company has a couple of large projects at EV-assembly plants and several at plants for the manufacture of batteries and their components. Recently beginning construction are the expansion and upgrades to EV-maker Rivian Automotive Incorporated's (NASDAQ:RIVN) (Irvine, California) plant in Normal, Illinois. The plant as it exists already measures in at more than 3 million square feet, but under the supervision of Clayco, Rivian will add more than 1 million additional square feet and perform upgrades on existing equipment to manufacture the company's R2 model and increase production from 150,000 to 215,000 vehicles annually. The project is expected to be completed in 2026. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Project Database can learn more by viewing the project report.

Of the several lithium-ion battery plants on which Clayco is at work, one of the most prominent comes from South Korea's SK Holdings' (Seoul) expansion of its battery-manufacturing campus in Commerce, Georgia. Clayco is expected to begin work soon on a new 430,000-square-foot building that will allow for the manufacture of 11.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of batteries annually. Clayco is acting as construction manager and is expected to complete the project next summer. Subscribers to Industrial Info's GMI Project Database can click here for more details on the project.

Clayco also has a large volume of projects in the data center sector. The largest of these is being built for web giant Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington) in New Carlilse, Indiana, near Lake Michigan and the Michigan state border. This summer, Clayco launched construction not only of the base grassroot data center building, but also three planned expansions. All four simultaneous phases of construction entail erecting an approximately 216,000-square-foot building. The projects are expected to be completed next summer, expanding Amazon's regional data capabilities. Subscribers can learn more by viewing the related project reports. Further expansions of the campus could potentially happen in the future.

Other big tech players with whom Clayco is working on data centers include Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) (Redmond, Washington), for which Clayco is expanding data center facilities in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Elk Grove, Illinois. Subscribers can learn more by viewing the reports on the Cheyenne and Elk Grove projects.

Clayco also is at work on several distribution centers for both perishable and nonperishable items. Within the Food & Beverage Industry, the company has a couple of refrigerated plant projects on hand for Dollar General Corporation (NYSE:DG) (Goodlettsville, Tennessee), one of which is underway, the other expected to kick off in the near future. In 2023, Clayco broke ground on a dual-use distribution facility for both dry and perishable goods for Dollar General in Salem, Oregon. The 1 million-square-foot facility is expected to be up and running next summer. Expected to start construction soon on the other side of the country is a facility for perishable goods in Amsterdam, New York. The 167,500-square-foot cold storage facility will join Dollar General's nearby dry goods facility in Amsterdam. It will house about $12 million worth of associated machinery and equipment to streamline the picking and packing process. Clayco is expected to be completed with this facility toward the end of next year. Subscribers can learn more by viewing the related project reports.

While most of the Clayco projects being tracked by Industrial Info involve the Industrial Manufacturing Industry, at least one Pharmaceutical-Biotech project has made its way into the company's in-progress construction. Late last year, Clayco broke ground on a health sciences building at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's campus in Edwardsville, Illinois. The 176,000-square-foot building will be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-Silver certified, housing the university's pharmacy, nursing and other health-related programs.
