Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking active projects valued at more than $4.4 billion involving design-build firm Clayco Incorporated (Chicago, Illinois). Most of the projects are in the Industrial Manufacturing sector. While projects with the highest value are in the U.S. Southeast market region, the company is involved in the most projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Southeast includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Puerto Rico, and the Mid-Atlantic includes Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

The U.S. Southeast is becoming a hotbed of projects in the automotive sector, and some of Clayco's largest projects fit this mold. Among them is Nokian Tyres plc's (Nokia, Finland) grassroot tire production facility in Dayton, Tennessee. The facility will manufacture tires for cars, sport utility vehicles and light trucks, and will include a 250,000-square-foot mixing building and 400,000-square-foot production building. Construction on the $360 million project began in early 2018 and is expected to be completed early next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Also in the Southeast, Clayco is at work as general contractor on a rocket engines manufacturing plant in Huntsville, Alabama, for Blue Origin (Kent, Washington). Construction on the 400,000-square-foot facility began earlier this year and is expected to wrap up in first-quarter 2020. The project has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $200 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington) is building distribution centers throughout the U.S., and Clayco is constructing one for the company in Beaumont, California, about 80 miles east of Los Angeles. The four-story building will have a footprint of 640,000 square feet and total area of 2.6 million square feet. It will feature 158 dock doors, four grade-level drive-in doors and 219 trailer spaces. HPA Architecture (Irvine, California) is the architect on the project, which has a TIV of $233 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Clayco also is at work on a handful of distribution centers for the Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry. Among these is Bausch Health Companies Incorporated's (NYSE:BHC) (Laval, Quebec) distribution center for ophthalmic products in Woodruff, South Carolina. The facility will have total square footage of 432,000 square feet and will feature refrigeration. Construction began in early 2017 and is expected to wrap up next summer. A potential expansion of the facility could double its size, although construction on this would be a few years out. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on Phase I and Phase II.

Among Clayco's other projects in the Pharma-Biotech Industry is construction of a grassroot biologics pilot plant and research and development (R&D) campus in Chesterfield, Missouri, for Pfizer Incorporated (NYSE:PFE) (New York, New York). The facility will be LEED-Silver certified and will include 209,000 square feet of laboratory space, and will consolidate R&D operations for biotheraputics and vaccines. Construction began in mid-2017 and is expected to wrap up soon. The project has an estimated TIV of $250 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Construction of the new campus involves closure of Pfizer's R&D and pilot plant in Chesterfield, Missouri, from where some equipment will be relocated. The closure began earlier this year and is expected to be completed this summer. Clayco is the contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
