Construction on Wuhan Petrochemical's Distillation Unit Complete

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Wuhan Petrochemical Company, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), completed construction on a 5 million-ton-per-annum (TPA) atmospheric vacuum distillation unit in late December 2007. After the unit goes into production, for which a date has not yet been specified, the company's integrated crude oil processing capability will increase to 6.5 million TPA.

In September 2007, Wuhan Petrochemical started a project to upgrade gasoline quality and to renovate the refining facility. The project includes a 5 million-TPA atmospheric distillation unit, a 1.2 million-TPA delayed coking unit, 1.9 million-TPA kerosene and diesel hydrogenation facilities, a 60,000-TPA sulfur recycling unit, a 2 million-TPA hydrocracking unit, a 1.8 million-TPA catalytic material hydroprocessing facility and many other production infrastructures. With all of these new additions coming into production, Wuhan Petrochemical's annual crude oil processing capacity will rise to 8 million tons.
