Keystone Closure Forces Refinery Outage - Phillips 66 (NYSE:PSX) has been forced to shut down units at its Illinois refinery because of the closure of TransCanada Corporation's (NYSE:TRP) Keystone pipeline system on Saturday due to a potential oil leak in South Dakota.
FINANCIAL
U.S. Trade Deficit at Six-Month High - The U.S. Commerce Department reports that the U.S. trade deficit rose 2.6% in February to $47.1 billion from $45.9 billion in January, marking a six-month high as a stronger U.S. dollar makes U.S. goods less attractive abroad.
CRUDE OIL
Saudi Aramco Increases U.S. Oil Prices - Saudi Arabia's state-run oil company Saudi Aramco increased the U.S. price for May sales of light, medium and heavy crude by 40 cents per barrel before the uptick in oil consumption in the summer driving season.
POWER
Planners Block Proposal for Largest Irish Windfarm - Planning permission for the largest proposed windfarm in Ireland has been rejected. The Irish planning authority, An Bord Pleanála (Dublin), has refused permission for the 49-turbine Carrickaduff onshore windfarm, which was proposed for County Donegal.
RWE Launches New Renewable Energy Business - German energy giant RWE AG (FWB:RWE) (Essen, Germany) has completed the creation of a new subsidiary to cover renewable energy, electricity grids and retail operations.
